Betty's Book Club!
I guess I didn't really want to relax over spring break!? I packed my bag with every thriller possible and plowed right through them all! With summer around the corner...lets skip the beach reads for now and go straight to the page turners....
Until You're Mine - Samantha Hayes
Wowza...if you liked Hand that rocked the Cradle...you will love this...super creepy!! A busy social worker with a traveling husband hires a nanny to help take care of her young stepsons and household while she is just weeks away from giving birth. The nanny is perfect on paper and highly recommended but slowly things start to shift. Meanwhile someone in town is brutally murdering pregnant women and stealing the babies...yup...I warned you...creepy!! It has some gruesome scenes and definite twists and turns. Several characters become involved and while I thought I had it figured out...I was so wrong. HIGHLY recommended!
I Let You Go- Clare Mackintosh
This one started out with a bang and then drifted off for a bit...but about halfway through I was ALL IN! It had such a twist in it that I actually had to re-read a few times to make sure that is what really happened! "On a rainy afternoon a mother's life is shattered when her son slips from her grip and runs into the street..." Soon after the accident the mother packs up her life and relocates to a tiny town on the coast to start again. Just when you think you know this woman...you don't ...so keep reading! I loved the short chapters so it's really easy to keep turning pages! HIGHLY recommended!
First Emma....then Jane....Both girls in different times decide to start over and move into the perfect house at One Folgate Street. Is the house as perfect as they think? The owner has a history with the mysteriously meticulous house he built and somehow each girl gets involved into his life and past. I loved that it kept flipping from one tenant to the other in completely different times but the plot was eerily similar. I couldn't stop turning the pages...HIGHLY recommended!(Ron Howard bought the rights to this so read it before the movie comes out!!)
All is not forgotten - Wendy Walker
OOOOMMMMGGGGGGG....I don't even know how to describe this one! The first chapter is BRUTAL...just warning you....it's really quite graphic....If you can get past the beginning and continue reading you won't be sorry. It's written from the perspective of the psychiatrist who is helping the family after the horrific event at the beginning...SO many twists and turns I thought for sure I had it figured out...not even CLOSE! It's a LONG book but will keep you involved every step of the way! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!!!
Behind Her Eyes - Sarah Pinbourough
Hmmmmm...not sure what to say about this one. It had all the makings of an amazing thriller...lots of 5 star reviews. I knew going in that a crazy ending was coming...but I just didn't like it. It had me the whole time and then started to fall off towards the end. It went into another space at the very end and for me it just didn't work. You may love it so I would recommend??
Ok...trying to switch gears and go fun and light for summer...any recommendations?
